Independence
We are an independent firm by choice because we know that competing interests within a firm can sometimes complicate the mission. Independence means the freedom to represent our clients’ best interests at all times. It means the ability to create the best transaction structure for each client, to provide totally unbiased advice and to execute the transaction solely to maximize value and achieve our clients’ goals.

Extensive Experience
Most of our transactions are highly complex, requiring not only industry knowledge, but a deep understanding of alternative structures, financing markets and tax implications that specifically relate to our clients. Matrix has the merger & acquisition expertise and knowledge to provide the best possible advice in complicated situations.

Senior Level Attention
We handle each transaction with a “hands-on” approach. Our deal teams are comprised of experienced investment bankers, including senior level Managing Directors, who, on a daily basis, stay involved with every aspect of the transaction. We are deeply committed to our clients and provide them with a confidential and intensive approach to detail and professionalism that reaches far beyond their expectations.

Proprietary Resources
Matrix maintains an in-house proprietary database of resources, including potential investors and capital providers that are focused on your specific type and size transaction. Our customized in-house database consists of more than 2,000 private equity groups, strategic acquirers, senior and mezzanine lenders, as well as other institutional investors. These valuable resources are the result of years of cultivating strong relationships and are a vital part of the process.

High Level of Confidentiality
Given that our roots hail from representation of private companies, we consider absolute confidentiality of paramount importance. We understand that our clients are extremely sensitive to rumors and potential dissemination of their corporate information getting out to the public, which can cause business disruption, turmoil among employees, or give competitors an edge. At Matrix we do not over expose your company. We take the time to research which parties would have a sincere interest in the opportunity and work with you as a team to compile a carefully selected target list of investors, lenders, or buyers.

National and Global Reach
We currently maintain close relationships with buyers, sellers and investors, as well as other transaction professionals throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and South America. This allows us to tap into a vast pool of resources. We make these same resources available to our clients to provide unique opportunities on a local, regional, national and international basis.

We have banking professionals located throughout the U.S. in Richmond, VA, Baltimore, MD and New York, NY.

What our Clients Are saying

  • “The team at Matrix provided valuable advice to me when I first acquired Riddleberger and have been a trusted advisor ever since. Their past experience in guiding private business owners through the M&A process, as well as their ability to work seamlessly with our attorney and accountant helped to make this a successful transaction for all parties involved. We were very pleased with the outcome.”

    Jim Young, President & CEO
    Riddleberger Brothers, Inc.
  • “Selling a business is a difficult decision. Matrix was able to lead us through the process and provide timely advice to help us make the best decision possible.”

Joseph Rusher, Vice President and Bobby Rusher, President
Rusher Oil Company and Rushco Food Stores, Inc.
  • “Matrix did a great job in leading the sales process, maximizing value for our stores and working with our legal counsel to negotiate the transaction. We are pleased that TA will be maintaining our existing employees and vendor relationships. Along with our daughters, Shannon and Jennifer, we have operated our stores as a family business for 26 years and will truly miss the convenience store industry. It was not an easy decision to sell, however we are confident that our employees and customers are in good hands and look forward to seeing positive changes for them all. We appreciate each and every employee and customer. We greatly appreciate the hard work John Underwood and his team at Matrix, along with the law firm of Winthrop & Weinstine led by Mark Johnson, did in bringing things to a successful close.”

    Ed Seck, President
Stop-a-Sec, Inc. and Seck Enterprises, Inc.
  • “After much consideration, the Greinke family made the difficult decision to sell SC Fuels. The SC Fuels team has done an impeccable job building and strengthening our geographic footprint within our core markets. We look forward to the continued opportunities and growth under Pilot.”

    Steven Greinke, CEO
Southern Counties Oil Co., L.P. d/b/a SC Fuels
  • “I would like to thank all of our employees who helped build our company over 37 years. Coming to the U.S. with only $100, my parents are the epitome of the American Dream. This was a very difficult process to go through, but having a team like Matrix made it much easier. They made sure that every detail was considered to ensure we were in the best possible situation. Our family is also thankful to our legal team led by Richard Few and his associates at Parker Poe for guiding us through the legal process.”

    Shrivastava-Patel, President
    Carolina Convenience Corporation
