Team Member Bio

James serves as Chief Operating Officer of Matrix Capital Markets Group, Inc. and is responsible for the day-to-day operations and policies and procedures of the firm, including strategic planning and implementation, human resources management, information technology and legal oversight, as well as office services administration.

James’ career prior to Matrix included leadership roles in a diverse mix of companies and industries.  Most recently, he served as COO of Connected Solutions Group, LLC (CSG), where he led the successful scaling of the company’s operations, human resources, and finance with an employee count that grew from 30 to 250+ over a three-year period.  CSG placed 8^th on the Inc. 5000 List in 2019.  Prior to CSG, he served as Regional Vice President & Business Development Officer at a Richmond based subsidiary of First National Bank of Pennsylvania and was responsible for structuring and funding M&A transactions.

James received a B.A. in Political Science with a Cognate in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.  He has served on multiple non-profit and service organization boards, including the Rotary Club of Innsbrook (Richmond) and the Henrico Firefighter Foundation.  James was also the chair and sponsor of the Virginia Move Over license plate legislation which was signed into law by the Governor of Virginia in 2019.

Team Member Bio

Honor serves as the Director of Marketing & Communications for the firm and has been with Matrix since 2005.  Her responsibilities include development, oversight and execution of firmwide marketing initiatives including strategic planning, corporate branding, project management and providing key insights related to creative, advertising and PR.

She previously worked in commercial real estate for over 20 years as Marketing & Information Technology Manager at Porter Realty and Director of Research & Information Technology at Advantis Commercial Real Estate, respectively.  She attended the University of Richmond where she studied Information Systems.

Team Member Bio

Yolanda serves as Controller for Matrix and her responsibilities include overseeing the finance and accounting operations of the firm, including financial reporting, cash management, regulatory reporting, payroll management and benefits administration

Prior to joining Matrix in 2019, she served as Controller for two privately held companies and has over 15 years of finance and accounting experience.  Yolanda is a Certified Public Accountant and received a B.B.A. in Accounting from James Madison University.

Team Member Bio

Ashley serves as the Director of Compliance for Matrix. Her responsibilities include oversight of the firm’s compliance policies and procedures to ensure they meet regulatory requirements, providing direction on regulatory matters and day-to-day compliance activities, and providing training as needed.

Prior to joining Matrix, she was a Senior Compliance Officer with FIS Brokerage & Securities Services LLC.  Ashley received a B.S. in Finance with a minor in Economics from Bradley University. She is currently qualified as a FINRA General Securities Representative (Series 7), General Securities Principal (Series 24), Uniform Securities Agent (Series 63), Municipal Advisor Representative (Series 50), Municipal Advisor Principal (Series 54) and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).

Team Member Bio

Kelly serves as Senior Marketing Coordinator for the firm.  Her responsibilities include coordinating trade association memberships, conference attendance and researching sponsorship and membership opportunities for all industry groups across the firm.  She is also responsible for executing marketing campaigns and research projects, submitting advertisements, creating reports and marketing content.

Kelly has been with Matrix since 1998. Over the years she has served in many key roles related to marketing and administration.  Prior to joining Matrix, she was a Project Assistant for PEC Solutions, Inc. Kelly received a B.A. in Speech Communications with a minor in Public Relations from Radford University.

Team Member Bio

Mari-Katherine serves as the Senior Administrative Assistant for Matrix and provides administrative support firmwide.  She interacts with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels across the organization providing highly developed interpersonal skills and a solution-oriented approach.

Prior to joining Matrix in 2022, she was a Senior Sales Representative at Philips Sales. Mari-Katherine received a B.S. in Parks, Recreation & Tourism from the School of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Team Member Bio

Diana serves as the Compliance Manager for Matrix. Her responsibilities include FINRA, MSRB point of contact, daily management of Matrix compliance for broker dealer registration, registered offices, registered reps and municipal advisors. Diana has been with the firm since 1998 and has held many different roles throughout her years at Matrix, including Office Manager, Human Resources Manager and worked in AP/AR Payroll.

Prior to Matrix, Diana worked at the Eastern Virginia Medical School as the Administrative Assistant and Residency Program Coordinator for the Department of Radiology. She received a Business Administrations degree from Tidewater Community College and her AAMA at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Team Member Bio

Michael joined Matrix in 2023 as Manager of Information Systems.  He is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, training, and day-to-day operations of the firm’s various electronic databases and file systems where he also provides data and system analysis.

Prior to joining Matrix, he was with Connected Solutions Group for four years as NetSuite Administrator, Operational Technology Engineer, and MDM Fulfillment Manager, respectively.  He received a BS in Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020.
